My father with a Canadian Avro 621 Tutor, basic trainer, toward the end of World War II.

Updated: Aug 24

This picture is of Dick Robinson, my biological father; He tried to join the Army Air Corp towards the end of World War II in the U.S. and was turned down due to no openings at that time.

The picture shows him standing by a two seat basic trainer in the Royal Canadian Air Force, which he joined shortly after trying to join the Army Air Corp in the U.S. Dick was my biological father who ran out on my family when i was five. Dick flew into Richland Washington in what i think was around 1947 when the Columbia had badly flooded to pick up my mother-to-be and take her back to Walla Walla for their wedding. Of course, I hadn't been born yet.. At the same time, my stepfather-to-be was flying people out of the Tri-Cities.

Interestingly, my biological father, Dick, came back to the doorstep of my house when I was 38 years old and said, "I'm your father!" It turned out he had worked on a number of movies and you can find him on Google; He has since passed away. He had worked for the Wild Kingdom, an older show about wildlife, had done a lot of work on the Jeremiah Johnson movie and helped originate the concept for the, "Grizzly Adams series," which was produced by Sun Pictures. Dick had many wild animals on a ranch in the Wasatch mountains of Utah including a grizzly bear named "Willie."

If any questions, e-mail me. Ric
