In 1927, a young girl named Dorothy Hester from Portland took flying lessons with Tex Rankin. Tex recognized her talent and coached her in her flying career. At seventeen years old, Dorothy was becoming an aerobatics champion.

 In 1931, Ruth Nichols broke the women's altitude record of 28,743 feet. She also set 35 speed, distance, and altitude records.

 A young lady named Ellen Church convinced Boeing Air Transport that her nursing skills and love of flying would qualify her to assist with passengers and emergencies. She became the first known stewardess.

 Jacqueline Cochran was essential to the war effort in World War II. For three years, she was named the world's best pilot.

 A young lady, Adrienne Bollard, was the first to fly over the Andes.

 Can you imagine staying aloft for ten days? Marsalis set the record in 1933.

 The women barnstormers of the 1920s and 30s were usually lent airplanes by manufacturers who wanted to promote women and the records they broke.

 Katherine Stinson was the first woman to fly the loop.

Amelia Earhart was a pioneering aviator and author who became the first female pilot to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean.
